Map 16 - Coombes Wood, River Eden
Directions for Parking at Coombes Wood: From Junction 41 (M6) take the 4th exit for the A6, at the next roundabout (Stoneybeck) take the 2nd exit, A6 for Carlisle. Stay on the A6 until the Armathwaitre turn off (on the right), drive to Armathwaite, in the village bear right past The Dukes Head and over the River Eden bridge, then take the next right for Nunnery, travel up the hill, at the top of the hill watch for a bungalow on the left:
Parking at P1 (What3words - icons.rocked.hides): Just after the bungalow turn into the right and park in the area near the gateway (DO NOT OBSTRUCT THE GATE). Access to the river is through the gate and down the track.
Parking at P2: If you have a key for the gate you can drive down to the river, go through the gate (PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS LOCKED BEHIND YOU WHEN ARRIVING AND LEAVING), drive down the track and take the first track to the left, follow this to the bottom and stay on it until you come to a clear area with a PAA sign, park here and follow the track down to the river. When leaving go up the hill until a junction with another track, then turn right and follow it back up to the entrance/gate.
